Our 2025 Gardening Notes to Stay Efficient

Market gardening has been a dream of mine since I moved to Dallas in 2015. Well, the dream is finally coming true. I plan to take gardening notes in my journal throughout the season, but I will leave them here, too, so that others can learn from us!

I am reading Mini Farming: Self-Sufficiency on 1/4 Acre by Brett L. Markham, and in the first chapter, he says we should have journals for each plant we plan to grow.

My Gardening Notes Journal Entries Will Have

  • The plant variety
  • Where the seeds were acquired from
  • General information about the plant and its requirements.
  • Where, when, and how the seeds were started
  • Transplanting information
  • Significant events that affected the crop
  • Pest problems and solutions

He also recommends having gardening notes in a calendar for tasks like starting and transplanting seedlings.
